The rich link to 1MDB

The rich link to 1MDB

THE Pakatan Rakyat (PR)’s 13th General Election Manifesto Rakyat, themed Pakatan Harapan Rakyat, aims to break monopolies to encourage healthy business competition.
Listed under The People’s Economy are 13 measures to turn Malaysia into a vibrant economy for the rakyat and Malaysia, not Barisan Nasional-Umno’s cronies.
One interesting aspect on revitalizing competition is this clause:

Dissolve 1MDB so that Khazanah remains the only state investment body.

Why is this so? Perhaps the following blog posting provides some hints:

The Most Romantic Dinner in the World
This is possibly the most romantic dinner in the world that i have ever come across. This dinner was hosted by a 29 year old Malaysian young man called Low Taek Jho (or more commonly known as Jho Low). It was said to be a dinner for a wedding proposal to Taiwanese singer, Elva Hsiao (萧亚轩), aged 33. You must watch the video to feel it. Looking at some pictures are just not good enough. It is only a 5 minute video. You wont regret watching it.

The dinner was held at a private beach of Atlantis Hotel, Dubai. You can see that the dinner was exclusive, only both of them were at the dinner.

Elva is a well known female artist in Taiwan releasing quite a few hit songs in Taiwan over the years. Whether there was a marriage proposal or not, she must have felt lucky to be treated with a 1 million British pound or RM5 million dinner by Jho Low. Just one dinner, k. Not a diamond that can last forever.

Looking at the way Jho Low spends money, one can only guess that he is a billionaire. He became famous in Malaysia and possibly in the world for spending a staggering 3.5 milliion Euros or RM14 million to buy gigantic bottles of Cristal champagne for Paris Hilton during a night in St Tropez, France. Apparently Jho Low decided to splash out on the champagne on Paris Hilton after the socialite had come face-to-face with her ex Doug Reindhart who was in the same club as them. According to club revellers Doug tried to compete with Jho Low by buying four gigantic bottles of Cristal but that was no match for this Malaysian man who then went onto buy the club’s entire supply of Cristal. Jho Low also bought more than 40 bottles of Cristal champagne in Lindsay Lohan's 23rd birthday at the Angel Ball after-party at 1Oak, New York. He is reported to be flying around the world in private jets and very close  to reality show star, Kim Kardashian. Now the saying is that 'one never have a champagne buying fight with Jho Low, you will lose'. Despite a born Penangite, Jho Low does not seem to carry the typical Penangite traits of being down-to-earth and thrifty.

Mr Low is the youngest son of Datuk Larry Low, a former shareholder and director of MWE Holdings Bhd, which currently has a market capitalisation of RM400 million. Jho Low is made a popular household name in Malaysia by the Star newspapers in 2010. The newspapers featured him on front page and run exclusive articles on him. Not an opportunity that an average 28 year old Malaysian man could usually get. In the articles, no opinions or comments of his friends, relatives or school mates were published. The Star summed up Jho Low's success formula as 'Right time, Right place, Right people'. His formula is in marked contrast to the richest people in this world like Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Warren Buffets, world's greatest fund manager and investor, talked about hard work and being thrifty. Bill Gates created personal computers for almost every households. Steve Jobs made the very user-friendly iPod, probably the most intuitively fun to use iPhone and iPad. Each of them has many years of strong and proven track record in providing goods and services. Of course, they made plenty of money in between.

'Right time, Right place, Right people' formula sounds more suited for connection business? This formula may be required in instance where the bidder of contract may not qualify for the tender criteria. It was reported that George Kent, a listed company with current market capitalisation of RM230 million, was leading a consortium and awarded RM1 billion contract to extend Ampang LRT. George Kent was the highest price bidder, and not the lowest, of the tender. Owner of George Kent is mentioned to be the golf buddy of the Malaysian Prime Minister. Recently, it is reported that two companies that failed the tender criteria were awarded with the largest government quotas to supply paddy seeds to Malaysian farmers. The Agriculture Minister, Noh Omar, who approved the tender awards insisted that the criteria were met, despite it was Ministry of Finance which highlighted the discrepancy in tender criteria fulfilment.

Jho Low is apparently very close to wealthy personalities in Middle East and manage their money. He has created a few billion US dollar funds since he was 20 years old. As a money manager, Jho is definitely very successful. His stature should be quite close to Warren Buffet. It is a matter of time that international publishers will seek to write books about Jho Low.

Logically speaking, if I am an investor of Jho Low' funds, I am probably worried about my money left with him, when I see the way he spends his money. I give him benefits of doubt that the money spent was all his. He must be a billionaire and earns a very good income. Notwithstanding, I will be curious whether he is making enough money for the funds or if he is making more money for himself. I should be scrutinizing very closely the capital invested and income generated by the fund where my money is. It is intriguing for him  to tell the Star that his Arab friends where the ones who spent the money in those parties. I stand to be corrected but I neither see any ethnic Arabian  in his dinner with Elva, nor any mention of Arabian names in many of the news with regards to his parties with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

Jho Low is a director and group adviser of UBG Bhd, a listed company reported to be owned by family of Sarawak chief minister, Abdul Taib Mahmud. He is also rumored to be in control of 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), a government entity, that was established to drive strategic initiatives for long-term economic development for the country by forging global partnerships and promoting foreign direct investment. 1MDB raised RM5 billion under a guarantee of Malaysian federal government in 2009.

Hypothetically, as long as Jho Low is spending his own money, his investors should be happy. If he spends his investors' money indirectly by diverting some return from his investors' fund, his investors may not be too happy. If he is spending directly or indirectly some other people's money which may or may not be related to government money, he may cause many people to be unhappy in Malaysia. Jho Low is enjoying high profile and flamboyant  lifestyle. He has to make extremely good income by ordinary Malaysian standards. After all, this is a country where 80% of the households are making less than RM3,000 per month income.

Come to think of it. Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib Razak should not be somewhat selfish and keep Jho Low's roles to only 1MDB and development of Razak Exchange in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur that was previously military base of the country. Razak Exchange is named after the Prime Minister's father and is Najib's pet project. Instead, he should make sure that Jho Low manages all the important large funds for the people of Malaysia. This is where Jho Low's forte is. PNB is a good place for him to start with. He can help to uplift the income level of Malaysians who subscribe to the funds by increasing the return on investment of those funds. We cannot possibly be a developed country by 2020 when 80% of our households are still earning less than RM3,000 a month. Can we?

Najib, BN, don’t have the courage to debate PR’s manifesto

Najib, BN, don’t have the courage to debate PR’s manifesto
By Chua Jui Meng

Chua explaining the details of PR’s election manifesto in his ceramah in Johor’s Tanjong Gading, Ledang, on March 1, 2013.

BARISAN Nasional (BN) does not have the courage and the intelligence to counter rationally with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) over PR’s election manifesto that was unveiled on Feb 25, 2013.
BN only uses rhetoric and adjectives to dismiss PR’s manifesto as impractical, dangerous, empty promises, ruining and bankrupting the nation, among many other unsubstantiated accusations.
However, BN fails to provide any sound argument, details and basis on the contents of the manifesto to back their criticisms based on the contents of the manifesto.
There is also no response when Prime Minister cum Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak is challenged to debate with PR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to debate the manifesto.
Why are the Najib and Umno-led BN behaving as such?
Because they know PR is able to implement and fulfill its electoral promises and therefore cannot possibly articulate intelligently and convincingly to rubbish PR manifesto.
They know PR can implement the election manifesto when it comes to power but BN cannot.
BN is unable to come up with such a people-centric manifesto because of its corrupt ways and enrichment agenda.
The bulk of the country’s annual revenue, now highly dependent on borrowings, is allocated to fund grandiose mega projects that enrich BN, especially Umno, cronies.
This is in contrast with PR’s election manifesto that focuses on empowering the people for nation building.
PR’s Manifesto Rakyat (People’s Manifesto), themed Pakatan Harapan Rakyat (People’s Hope in Pakatan), is based on a four-prong action plan to help reshape and the thrust of the nation’s socio-economic growth.
It is aimed at fast tracking the people and Malaysia’s growth by implementing fiscal policies that empower the rakyat and their interest, not that of political cronies.
Top of the manifesto’s agenda are the measures to ensure The People’s Well-Being. Listed are measures that are easy to understand and self-explanatory why they will fulfill the aspirations and hopes of a thriving rakyat:
Ø Lower oil prices;
Ø Lower electricity charges;
Ø Lower water charges;
Ø Abolish tolls;
Ø Abolish monopolies;
Ø Lower car prices;
Ø 150,000 affordable and comfortable housing;
Ø National Housing Corporation: investing RM5 billion in the first year and RM2 billion a year after to build affordable and comfortable housing;
Ø Free education for all, abolishing PTPTN;
Ø Eliminate AES, revoking AES summonses;
Ø Justice for Felda settlers;
Ø Increase police capability solving crime;
Ø Free ward service to all citizens in all government hospitals for class 2 and 3 wards; and
Ø Social welfare assistance increased to RM550 a month.

An enthusiastic PR supporter turns the tables on Barisan Nasional (BN)’s latest “I Love PM” gimmick. His “edited” banner is “I Love New PM Anwar”.” PR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim also delivered a ceramah to Johoreans in Ledang. His message is to ignore and not to believe the lies being spun by BN’s controlled print and electronic media on the so-called disunity in PR and the rubbishing of PR’s election manifesto. Anwar said the BN only rubbishes and condemns the manifesto that was prepared over the past year with economists and the consensus of the DAP, PAS and PKR.

The other three focuses in the manifesto are The Fraternity Of The People, The People’s Economy and People’s Government.
The details of the PR manifesto are now available online. You have a choice to view the summary or full manifesto, in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese, Tamil, Iban or Kadazan.

BN using Anwar to confuse voters?

BN using Anwar to confuse voters?
 | March 2, 2013

It is very obvious that BN keeps creating issue after issue to finish off Pakatan while, at the same time, giving out cash to woo the rakyat.

COMMENT

The mainstream media is continuing to harp on the so-called disagreement among Pakatan Rakyat component parties over the choice of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
This is done with the intention to create a perception among the public that Pakatan is constantly at loggerheads due to this issue and therefore unfit to govern.
PAS has been blamed as the main culprit in this matter because during the PAS muktamar (general assembly) in November last year, an overzealous PAS member had proposed that PAS president and Marang MP, Abdul Hadi Awang, be the prime minister should Pakatan succeed in gaining control of Putrajaya in the 13th general election.
The 11th hour faux pas by a PAS delegate has been picked up and highlighted with the usual hype and spin by the Barisan Nasional-controlled media and turned into a firestorm threatening to engulf Pakatan.
Pro-BN political analysts plus various individuals have also joined in the fray criticising Pakatan as failing to reach a consensus.
On Feb 26, a mainstream English daily has even reported that PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, popularly known as Mat Sabu, has refrained from openly endorsing Anwar. This is in contrast to the stand made by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng who firmly endorses Anwar as the candidate to be the prime minister due to his good performance when he was the finance minister.
The same English daily also reported that there was talk that a compromise has been reached between PAS and DAP leaders for Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, the long-time and current Gua Musang MP, to be considered as the prime minister-designate.
This report certainly paints DAP in a bad light, making it seem that while Guan Eng is openly endorsing Anwar, at the back of it, DAP leaders are secretly making deals to put in another candidate.
Thus BN’s media is now working overtime in attempting to portray DAP and PAS as going against PKR by stabbing PKR’s back.
This is done with the intention of causing Pakatan to be destroyed from within.

Media propaganda
A PKR strategist, who spoke on condition of anonymity, opined that the 13th general election will only be called once big cracks appear in Pakatan.
This is because fence-sitters will be influenced by what they perceive as Pakatan breaking up and therefore the best bet would be to stick to voting for BN which has been continuously portrayed as being firm, steady and united.
BN’s use of massive media propaganda is a factor that cannot be underestimated.
This is on top of their ploy of frightening the rural Malays that should Pakatan win the 13th general election, DAP’s Chinese will “control the country”.
For the urban and educated folks, BN uses the Goebbels strategy of repeating a lie as many times as possible so that this lie will be transformed into a truth in people’s mind.
The media executes this strategy by continuously pounding home the message that “Pakatan is disunited and cracking up”.
How far the effects of this strategy can go in influencing fence-sitters is difficult to ascertain, but those who do not bother to read the online news portals will be the ones who will be affected.
As for Anwar, the media portrayed him as evasive and reluctant to speak on the matter when the “prime minister” question is being posed to him by journalists.
Even if one argues that the party which wins the most seats in Pakatan should be the one providing its candidate as prime minister, logically this role will also fall to PKR.
It is highly unlikely for PAS to win more seats than PKR given the fact that PAS will be contesting mostly in the rural Malay seats which are Umno strongholds.
It is very obvious that BN keeps creating issue after issue to finish off Pakatan while, at the same time, giving out cash to woo the rakyat.
And this two-pronged strategy is being intensified in a frantic bid to woo the fence-sitters as we get nearer to April 28 (the date of Parliament’s automatic dissolution).

Diversion tactic
Commenting on BN’s strategy to confuse the rakyat, PAS Shah Alam MP, Khalid Samad, is of the view that the Pakatan candidate to hold the prime minister’s post will be picked by consensus by all Pakatan parties. So, it will be none other than Anwar because to put it simply: Anwar has the majority vote.
“There is definitely no confusion in this matter although it is BN which is confused and, at the same time, trying to confuse the rakyat,” said Khalid.
It is clear that the prime minister-candidate issue is a BN ploy to divert the rakyat’s attention from the real core issues affecting the nation – such as crime, cronyism and corruption.
Hopefully, voters can see through BN’s Machiavellian ploy and not get side-tracked, thus forgetting the main issues of the day.
Hence we see Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak purposely delaying the polls in the hope that Pakatan will either make major tactical blunders or simply fall apart.
Therefore it looks like we may have to brace ourselves for the long haul while waiting for the general election.

Selamat jalan, Najib

Selamat jalan, Najib
 | March 2, 2013
COMMENT

Sia-sia pula Kerajaan BN terpaksa menanggung dosa akibat kekhilafan masyarakat!
