‘Wipe out 55 years of BN-Umno’s corrupt
rule’
This is the scene in Gelang Patah PKR’s
office at 1am on March 11, 2013.
GELANG PATAH (March 11, 2013): It was 1am
today but the Gelang Patah PKR division office in Taman Skudai Indah was abuzz
with preparations for the coming 13th General Election (GE13).
The
Gelang Patah PKR election steering committee members, party members and
supporters were burning the midnight oil to sort out thousands of leaflets for
distribution in walkabouts until after GE13.
They
were also preparing more maps and data to help smoothen campaign activities and
strategy planning for the coming electoral battle when Johor PKR chairman Chua
Jui Meng paid a surprise visit.
Chua
said: “I had just finished dinner with supporters recruiting volunteers for our
election campaign machinery in the state. I also inspected certain areas in
Gelang Patah for the putting up of party flags when I decided to stop by to
have a look here.
“It’s
already 12.30am and I am delighted that we are at work to ensure PKR and
Pakatan Rakyat (PR) win big in Johor this time.”
Two
youths also stepped into the office and signed up as members on the spot,
pledging to join Gelang Patah PKR’s election campaign machinery.
“Parliament
has yet to be dissolved but we are already beginning to burn the midnight oil
in our electoral preparations. It will become hot and demanding when GE13
begins.
“Prime
Minister Najib (Abdul Razak)’s lack of courage to face the rakyat five years after the March 8, 2008, national polls is Umno-led
Barisan Nasional (BN)’s electoral history of shame.
“The
fact that he (Najib) is dragging his feet over seeking a new mandate for BN to
govern shows his fear of defeat and humiliation in GE13.
“This
is the first time that BN has lost its advantage of element of surprise in
calling for national polls. Parliament is set for automatic dissolution on
April 28.
“That
is only 48 days away,” he said, urging Malaysians, especially Johoreans, to
clean up Malaysia by voting out BN-Umno’s 55 years of corrupt rule.
