Pre-KL112 ceramah attracts 30,000 crowd

A sea of people fills the KSS’ field to the brim.

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 11, 2013): The Kelab Sultan Sulaiman field in Kampung Baru was filled to the brim by about 30,000 people tonight.
They had turned up for the pre-KL112 (Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat or Peoples’ Uprising Assembly) to be staged in Merdeka Stadium at 2pm today (Jan 12, 2013).
Some 70 speakers, comprising politicians, non-governmental organisation leaders and activists, were given four minutes to address the crowd.
All the speakers had a common stand – urging the rakyat to be at the stadium to send a strong message to the Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government that it cannot continue to mislead after 55 years.
PKR vice-president Chua Jui Meng said the corrupt and cruel BN must be retired after the 13th General Election.

Chua, who is also Johor PKR chairman, said: “In Johor, the Ghani Othman-led BN state government has been abusing the Land Acquisition Act 1960 for the past decade to grab Malay ancestral land for profiteering by cronies.
“Pengerang, where Rapid (Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development project) is to be located, Ghani wants to acqire 22,500 acres.
“Rapid only needs about 6,000 acres. Why is he acquiring so much more land?” Chua asked.
The acquisition has claimed three lives - a restaurant helper, his sick wife and his retarded son who committed suicide.
“We must stop such heartless actions by the BN and the rakyat is the only force that sack BN in the next general election.
“Start it by turning up in full force at Merdeka Stadium at 2pm today (Jan 12, 2013),” Chua urged.
