SEGAMAT (Jan 4, 2013): Johoreans must wake up and rise against the cruel Mentri Besar Ghani Othman and his Barisan Nasional (BN) state government.
“Look at what is happening in Pengerang. We need development but only sustainable industries, not harmful ones.
“Rapid (Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development project) cannot be located in Pengerang because it affects too many people,” Johor PKR chairman Chua Jui Meng said.
“Rapid only needs about 6,000 acres. Why does Ghani want to acquire 22,500 acres, displacing thousands of villagers?
“It is just another greedy land grab exercise to enrich BN cronies. Ghani has been misusing and abusing the Land Acquisition Act 1960 for the past decade to acquire land for profiteering.

“Look and judge for yourselves what has happened to the land that once belonged to Malays and Orang Asal in Pasir Gudang, Danga Bay, Nusajaya and others.
“Most of the land belonged to Malays. BN cannot be relied upon anymore to take care of the interest of the people, especially the Malays,” he said in a PAS ceramah here tonight.
Chua said the only way to stop the unabated greedy land grabs of Ghani and his state government was to go for political change.
“The coming 13th General Election may be the only chance for Malaysians to change the ruling coalition from BN to Pakatan Rakyat (PR),” he added.
He urged the Malay community to ask how the prime minister of 22 years, Mahathir Mohamad, could amass US$44 billion (more than RM132 billion) in wealth, according to Wikipaedia.
“Also ask why 80% of the corporate equity is controlled by Umnoputra and its cronies. Clearly, BN-Umno is all about looking after the elite Malays and their families and cronies.
“That is why, after 55 years, the majority of rural and urban Malays are still living in poverty or trapped in the middle-income group,” Chua said.
He said the people would begin to enjoy the benefits of a people-centric fiscal policy when PR is given the mandate to govern.
“When widespread and massive corruption is curbed, the savings can then be channelled to the people,” he said, adding that RM200 billion was taken out of the country without any tax collection in 2010.
