Army, police prepared for PR victory - ex-general

A former senior army officer has said that the armed forces and police were expecting a Pakatan Rakyat victory at the 13th general election.
Speaking at the launching of the coalition's manifesto yesterday, Lieutenant-General (Rtd) Abdul Ghafir Abdul Hamid said this was based on intelligence by both the army and police.
“Intelligence from the army and police say they are confident that PR will win. They are also planning to maintain peace,” said the former deputy army chief.
Ghafir also dismissed the suggestion of chaos should BN be defeated.
“I believe there will be no trouble because people are civilised. I guarantee that the army is professional and we are loyal to the Agong,” said Ghafir addressing the audience at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.
Ghafir meanwhile described PR's manifesto as the best course to improve people's lives, especially those among the poor.
“It is not mere rhetoric,” he stressed. - Harakahdaily
