SKUDAI (Feb 3, 2013): Gelang Patah
PKR members today spent seven hours walking around Taman Sri Skudai and Taman
Ungku Tun Aminah to wish the rakyat Gong Xi Fa Cai.
The
walkabout to distribute kum (mandarin
oranges) started at 9am led by Johor PKR chairman Chua Jui Meng.
At
the end of the Jelajah Gong Xi Fa Cai Gelang
Patah PKR Dengan CJM at 4pm, some 6,000 flyers were also distributed in four
languages – Chinese, Tamil and Malay.
Chua
walked in and out of the wet market and shophouses, extending warm handshakes
to business operators and customers to whom he gave a pair of kum which symbolises gold and wealth.

Chua’s
entourage comprised PKR flag bearers who distributed flyers to inform the
public on critical socio-economic issues affecting Malaysians and the country
today.
Johoreans
also honked to show their support, with many winding down their car windows
asking for copies of the flyers.
“It
was surely worth the seven hours. The response and body language from the
majority of Johoreans were both positive and encouraging.
“They did not hesitate to extend their warm handshakes
and some even presented their unsolicited political views which were a great
feedback to us,” he added.
In
the walkabout, Chua reminded Johoreans on the need to Change! Ubah!
“If
Umno is not toppled in the coming general election, the future for Johoreans,
Malaysians and Malaysia would be far less than our potential.
“The
Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN) is just too corrupt, unable to reform and change
its ways to look after the interest of the rakyat.
“It
is only looking after the interest of their families, party elites and cronies,”
he said, reminding Johoreans that “the country’s most important asset is our
children and their education”.
“They
are our future and that is why, when Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is given the mandate
to rule, education from primary to tertiary levels will be free for every
Malaysian child irrespective of race or religion,” he added.
